Privacy Policy
Effective September 26, 2026
The short version
- We don’t require an account and we don’t run our own servers for the app.
- Your music stays in your own iCloud Drive or Dropbox. We never copy it to our servers.
- Music Insights analysis happens entirely on your iPhone.
- We don’t use advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, and we don’t sell or share your data.
Who we are
This policy explains how Feather Player (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Feather Player iOS app and this website. If you have any questions, contact us at support@featherplayer.com.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal information. Feather Player does not ask you to create an account, and the app does not send your name, email address, contacts, location, music files or listening history to us.
Information stored on your device
To work, the app keeps the following on your iPhone:
- Your playlists, settings, equalizer presets and theme choice.
- Music Insights results (key, tempo, structure and similar details) so songs don’t need to be re-analyzed.
- Temporary cached copies of audio files so they can play smoothly.
- If you connect Dropbox, the access token that lets the app reach your Dropbox, stored securely in the iOS Keychain.
This data never leaves your device except through Apple’s own device backups (iCloud or computer backups), which Apple governs. Deleting the app removes it.
iCloud Drive
The app reads audio files from its folder in your iCloud Drive using Apple’s standard iOS file APIs. Those files stay in your iCloud account and are handled by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud account.
Dropbox
Connecting Dropbox is optional. When you choose to connect, you sign in on Dropbox’s own page and authorize Feather Player through Dropbox’s official OAuth flow. We never see your Dropbox password.
Once connected, the app communicates directly between your iPhone and Dropbox to:
- List the folders and files in your Dropbox so you can browse them.
- Read (stream or download) the audio files you choose to play.
Your Dropbox data is used only to provide these features inside the app. It is not sent to our servers, not used for advertising, not used to train machine-learning models, and not shared with anyone. The app does not modify or delete files in your Dropbox.
You can disconnect at any time in the app’s settings, or revoke access from your Dropbox account under Settings → Connected apps. Disconnecting deletes the stored access token from your device. Dropbox’s handling of your data is covered by the Dropbox Privacy Policy.
Music Insights
Songs are analyzed on your iPhone the first time they play. Audio is never uploaded for analysis, and the results are stored only on your device.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and it does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. If you have opted in to share analytics with app developers in iOS settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics. You can change this under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Purchases
Any purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details.
This website
This website does not use cookies or analytics. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and reliability. These logs are not used to identify you.
Sharing and selling data
We do not sell, rent, trade or share personal information with third parties, because we don’t collect it in the first place.
Your choices and rights
Because your data lives on your device and in your own cloud accounts, you are always in control. You can edit or delete playlists and settings in the app, disconnect Dropbox, or delete the app to remove everything it stored. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. As we hold no personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to return or delete, but you’re welcome to contact us at support@featherplayer.com with any request.
Children
Feather Player is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
Connections to Dropbox use encrypted HTTPS, and Dropbox credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain. Data on your iPhone is protected by iOS’s built-in encryption.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
